Dr Barrett also tutors second year students at University twice a week.
Physician Associates
A physician associate is a health care professional who works alongside the doctors and the wider medical team. They can take a medical history and address healthcare needs, carry out physical and mental examinations, order investigations and review results diagnose and manage illness and make onward referrals to secondary care. There is always a doctor on call if further advice is needed. Currently a physician associate cannot prescribe but as the doctor is always on call they are available to prescribe any medication that is required after a consultation.
Nurses
A Practice Nurse is a registered nurse who works in a General Practice setting. A Practice Nurse can provide care for patients across their lifespan and in various areas of health such as health promotion, and well-being such as long term condition clinics, wound care, cervical smear and vaccinations.

Practice Management
The practice management team are involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice management team supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.
Administration Team
We have a team of administrators who support the clinical team with coding, referrals, reports, IT and assisting with the management team with operational support.
Reception
Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the healthcare team.
Dispensers
Our dispensers are responsible for dispensing from the on-site dispensary at both Sherburn and Rillington Practices. They can help with any questions you may have about your repeat medication.
Delivery Drivers
We offer a medication delivery service to patients who struggle to access the practice for their medications. Our deliveries are available Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, please ask at dispensary for further information.
