We have noted the uptake for the Staxton clinic appointments has declined and we have thought about how we could serve our patients better. We noticed an increased demand for urgent appointments for problems that could be treated excellently by a nurse practitioner.

 From 4th September our new nurse practitioner, Theresa, will start and will be available 3 days per week, offering 'immediate' (same day) appointments.

We feel the appointments are best offered in the Sherburn and Rillington practice premises as they are much better equipped than the Staxton Village Hall. We are therefore finishing the Staxton Village Hall clinics from July 2017, meaning the last clinic will be held on Tuesday 27th June.

 The current prescription service which currently runs from Pat Pickard’s home in Staxton will cease from Wednesday 28th June – any prescriptions not collected from Pats after this date will be returned to the Practice for collection. As an alternative the practice does offer a prescription delivery service for all our patients, this will continue where needed to deliver prescriptions to patient's houses by our delivery driver. This requires you to be at home to sign for the prescription on the delivery day. We offer this service on a Tuesday and Thursday mornings and Wednesday evenings

Please ask at dispensary for further information and to be added to the delivery service.

We trust we will improve our service to our patients this way.

Please allow two full working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.

Repeat Prescriptions

pill_bottlePatients on long-term medication can order repeat prescriptions in the following ways:

  • In person - return the repeat order slip from a previous prescription with the required items clearly marked.
  • By post – return the repeat order slip from a previous prescription with the required items clearly marked.
  • Online – via the link at the top of this page. New users need to register – please see reception for details.  Requests for non-repeat items cannot be made via this route.  Please request these items either in person or by phone.

We are a dispensing practice and your medication can usually be supplied at the surgery after an appointment. We have an additional collection point at Staxton (see the dispenser for details). If you run out of medication over the weekend or Bank Holiday then you can contact the out-of-hours team using the surgery switchboard number to arrange a prescription.

Delivery Service

If you normally have your medication dispensed by the surgery, we can deliver it for you free of charge. Medication will need to be ordered at least 48 hours in advance, and colostomy products and dressings will need to be ordered 3 days in advance in order to take advantage of this service. The delivery days are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Please ask at the dispensary for more details.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip. Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
